With the strong development momentum of 800 V batteries in electric vehicles, we have launched two new 900 V CeraLink chip capacitors, which are very suitable for fast switching power converters and inverters. Due to the positive DC bias effect, their peak capacitance is very suitable for silicon carbide (SiC) and silicon tag # IGBT inverters at an operating voltage of 800 V.
⚡ Increasing capacitance through DC bias to achieve optimal efficiency
⚡ High ripple current capability without dV/dt limitation
⚡ Compact design, compliant with AEC-Q200 standards, capable of meeting demanding application requirements
Two new 900V type components with standard terminals (B58043I9563M052) and soft terminals (B58043E9563M052) have expanded the B58043 series CeraLink capacitors in their EIA 2220 package size. With the increasing popularity of electric vehicles equipped with 800V battery voltage, new components are becoming more and more sought after due to their working specifications that are perfectly suitable for this voltage. The existing 500V CeraLink series is aimed at 400V inverters equipped with gallium nitride (GaN) transistors or silicon MOSFETs, while the new 900V type components have a voltage resistance performance of over 1kV, making them very suitable for 800V inverters equipped with silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs or silicon IGBTs.
The new capacitor adopts surface mount (SMD) design, with a compact size of only 5.7 x 5.0 x 1.6 mm, and an effective capacitance of 33 nF at 800V operating voltage. Moreover, in high signal applications such as power converters and inverters, the capacitance can reach 56 nF. This positive DC bias effect originates from PLZT (lead zirconate titanate) ceramic dielectric, which is fundamentally different from the inherent negative DC bias effect of MLCC (multilayer ceramic capacitors) with Class II dielectric.
With the aforementioned characteristics, the highly compact CeraLink capacitor has become the preferred solution for absorption, filtering, flying capacitor, and DC support in power converters and inverters, and is widely suitable for automotive, renewable energy, and industrial drive applications. Its dissipation factor tan ẟ can be maintained below 0.025, which meets the AEC-Q200 standard.
