TEA19161T and TEA19162T are ICs suitable for combination controllers with resonant topologies such as PFC. They can enable the system to operate efficiently at various power levels. In addition, they can be combined with TEA1995T dual LLC resonant SR controller to construct a cost-effective resonant power supply. This power supply complies with effective regulations of Energy Star, the US Department of Energy (DOE), the EU Eco Design Directive, the EU Code of Conduct, and other guidelines.
The resonant topology structure exhibits excellent efficiency at high power levels, while at lower power levels, its efficiency decreases due to higher magnetization current and switching losses. Therefore, TEA19161T (LLC) switched from a low-power level to a newly introduced low-power mode. This mode operates within the power range between continuous switching (also known as high-power mode) and intermittent mode.
TEA19161T is designed to be used in conjunction with TEA19162T power factor control (PFC) controller. To ensure communication regarding startup and protection, TEA19161T includes a digital control. This digital control also supports a fast lock reset mechanism. In order to maximize the efficiency of the entire system at low output power levels, TEA19161T sets TEA19162T to intermittent mode.
The TEA19161T/TEA19162T/TEA1995T combination provides high power efficiency and reliability from 90 W to 500 W with minimal external components. The system provides very low no-load input power (<75 mW; including the TEA19161T/TEA19162T/TEA1995T combination) and high efficiency from minimum to maximum load. So, any additional low-power power supply can be ignored.
