Murata Co., Ltd. has developed the world's first ultra small 006003 inch (0.16mmx0.08mm) multilayer ceramic capacitor. Compared with the existing ultra small product 008004 inch (0.25mmx0.125mm), the volume has been reduced by about 75%.

In recent years, due to the continuous advancement of high-performance and miniaturization trends in electronic devices, the number of electronic components equipped has been increasing, and the space available for installing electronic components is becoming smaller and smaller. The number of multi-layer ceramic capacitors equipped in various electronic devices has also increased with the high functionality of electronic devices, and currently up to 1000 capacitors are used in new smartphones. In this context, there is an increasing demand for ultra small products that can achieve high-density component installation within limited installation space.

Murata has been engaged in research and development of ceramic capacitors since 1944, developing unique key technologies in raw materials, manufacturing processes, and production techniques. Murata was the first to commercialize 0201M size multilayer ceramic capacitors in 2014 and continue to popularize them, especially in modules for smartphones and wearable devices.

The successful development of the 006003 inch (i.e. L/W/T=0.16mm × 0.08mm × 0.08mm) ultra small multilayer ceramic capacitor embodies Murata's key technology for many years and is bound to make significant contributions to the further miniaturization and high-performance of electronic devices in the future.

This product will mainly be used for various modules and wearable devices aimed at small mobile devices. In the future, Murata will continue to lead the development of the electronics industry with the slogan "Innovator in Electronics" by providing unique products and technologies.

This product is expected to be exhibited at the "CEATEC JAPAN 2024" Murata booth at the Makuhari International Convention and Exhibition Center in Chiba Prefecture, Japan on October 15th; In addition, the newly developed product is expected to start providing samples by the end of 2024.
