Murata Productions Co., Ltd. has developed support for LoRaWAN ® The small, low-cost communication module "Type 2DT" with GNSS. This product supports Semtech's IC and is suitable for applications such as trackers. Mass production has now begun.
In recent years, IoT devices have been used to monitor livestock and human activities in the tracker market. But when used outdoors, due to Wi Fi ™ The communication distance of close range wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth is short, so in the tracker market, LoRa can be used for a wider range of long-distance communication methods ® Highly anticipated.
LoRaWAN ® is a specification that utilizes the sub GHz frequency band, which does not require wireless base station authorization, in LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) wireless communication with wide area, long distance, low speed, and low power consumption characteristics. GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is a global positioning satellite system that can accurately locate the position on Earth through communication with artificial satellites operating in orbit above the Earth.
The new product from Murata Manufacturing adopts Semtech's LoRa ® The chipset LR1110 supports frequencies from 860MHz to 930MHz and can achieve long-distance communication up to a maximum of 22dBm. In addition, it is equipped with GNSS (GPS/BeiDou) and Wi Fi passive scanning functions for the purpose of obtaining location information. The Type 2DT can achieve long-distance communication and location information acquisition without the need for other devices. This can shorten the time it takes for customer products to enter the market and help reduce costs.
This new product is mainly used for asset tracking, traceability, loss/theft prevention, inventory management, etc.
